Employment and Income Fact Sheet 2016 Census

Back

These statistics, drawn from the 2016 Census, paint a broad stroke of Surrey’s Indigenous population, which includes persons who are First Nations, Métis, or Inuk (Inuit).

The median and average income of Indigenous people in Surrey is lower than the overall population, and slightly lower than the Metro Vancouver Indigenous population. Incomes are rising, but many Indigenous community members continue to live in poverty.
